Lindy Cooke Celebrant

Welcome

A portrait of Lindy Cooke

Hi, my name is Melinda Cooke but please call me Lindy ~ most people do! I am happily married and have two children and two young grandchildren. Our family moved to the Northern Rivers area of NSW 30 years ago and absolutely love the lifestyle here.

I’m a story teller, a chocolate lover, ideas collector and nail polish addict!

Having worked in advertising, marketing and event management roles, I was inspired to become an authorised Marriage Celebrant after attending a beautiful and moving wedding back in 2012.

I have successfully completed the 13 units of study to attain Certificate IV in Celebrancy through Australian Celebrations Training. I am also registered as a Celebrant with the Attorney-General’s Dept. and am a member of the Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants and an affiliate member of the Australian Funeral Directors Association.

I offer a wide range of resources including poems and song suggestions which I’m happy to share with you. I love writing ceremonies and also offer around 30 symbolic rituals which can be incorporated to add another layer to your special day.

I am available for bookings in the Northern Rivers of NSW and am happy to discuss arrangements if your chosen venue is outside this area.

Everyone deserves an amazing ceremony, one that reflects their style, for their special day. For me, being a celebrant is not a job; it’s an opportunity to meet lots of different people and to use my creative background to write and deliver a personalised ceremony for each of them.

So, if you’re planning to tie the knot with a hundred or more guests or a handful of your closest family and friends… or if you’d like to welcome or farewell a special family member… or celebrate another important occasion, let’s get together for an obligation-free chat.

For couples who live interstate or overseas, almost everything can be done online these days other than the ceremony itself (!) and signing the Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage which is the last document you’ll sign before your marriage. (Note: The Marriage Act was recently changed, due to COVID restrictions, to allow one or both people planning to marry in Australia to sign the Notice of Intended Marriage remotely, via video, in front of an authorised witness. This change will be repealed on 31.12.23. If both people planning to marry are overseas, they still need to sign the Notice of Intended Marriage in the physical presence of an authorised witness.) While a face-to-face meeting is ideal, I’m more than happy to connect with you via email or something like WhatsApp or Messenger video chat and get to know more about you and your wedding plans. In this way, I can step you through the legal elements, discuss your ceremony options and share my resources with you.

I look forward to reflecting your story and designing a ceremony that speaks from the heart ♥
